Pronouncing our Lodge name
Harewood Lodge was consecrated 21st September 1937 following a petition proposed by W Bro G Pick PPGD to form a new lodge which was to meet in Boroughgate Otley. As a consequence Harewood Lodge No 5667 became the first daughter lodge of Royal Wharfedale Lodge No 1108.
The consecration ceremony was performed by the PGM MW Bro The Earl of Harewood from whom the Lodge takes its name (hence the pronunciation HARwood). In 2021 the current Earl gave permision for us to continue to use this pronunciation although he himself had reverted to the same pronunciation as the village HAREwood
